Travel with me to the " Pillars of Hercules" in Antigua, which is one of the most beautiful hikes I have done. My girlfriend, Kat and I woke up at 7am. Our tour guide picked us up at our resort and drove 2 miles to the other side of the island where the hiking trail would commence. Before I dive deeper into this adventure, I want to start by saying, hiking is such a underrated workout. Many aren't aware that it is great for developing your cardio and leg strength. Most importantly it's great if you want to simply get fresh air and become one with nature!

Ok back to the adventure. Our tour guide, Rodney, handed me and my girlfriend each a hiking stick to help us maintain balance and avoid falling. It was in fact a two hour hike filled with various terrain and elevation that we were about to embark on. Along the way, he taught us all about the various plants and trees that grew in Antigua. We also stopped to eat fresh fruits from the forest and stand along the edge of high cliffs overseeing the beautiful ocean. As we continued to navigate the rocky terrain and steep inclines, we tested our endurance, but the sense of accomplishment with each milestone reached was immeasurable. The physical exertion was rewarded with moments of pure bliss as we reached scenic overlooks, where we could rest and marvel at the vast expanse of nature spread out before us. The pictures we took do not do justice to the beauty of the island. We were just so grateful to have such good health in order to be able to experience a hike like this one.

The Pillars of Hercules was everything and more. Fun fact, it got its name because of how strong and rugged it looks and feels. It holds about a large piece of land in Antigua and recieves the daily slams of the ocean waves. For all my hiking enthusiast, this is definitely one I would recommend. Pro tip: make sure to pack energy fueled snacks and water. Also invest in hiking boots and just enjoy the journey that hikes provide.
